About

I am a journalist by day and a novelist-poet-writer after work hours. I am working on my third novel, as well as a few short stories. My dog Zoey is my writing assistant, but I think she might be at work on her own book. I can’t be sure because the secret is in her bark.

  1. I listed you as one of my fifteen recently found blogs in my acceptance of the Versatile Blogger Award – thus giving you the award, too. I view it as an opportunity to let people know about blogs they might not have found otherwise. And your blog is one I definitely enjoy following. Keep up the great work!

  2. Congrats! I’ve awarded you the ABC Award for Awesome Blog Content. 🙂 http://kourtneyheintz.wordpress.com/2012/03/05/abc-blog-award/
Feel free to pass it on or just bask in the award.

  3. Ah Ha! You and Zoey are one in the same!

  4. Your writing advice is so helpful, Shelley. Thanks! Love that portrait. 🙂

  5. Uh-oh. So when we make Zoey bark, is she giving up her secrets?

  6. Hi Sheley, my name is Adam and I’m a fellow writer in Loveland, CO. Just thought I’d say “Hi” and invite you over to my blog. Us front range writers have to stick together!

  7. Thank you, Adam. Is your fantasy novel self-published or traditional published? I’ve been writing for about 15 years, off and on, but mostly on.

    • It’s been picked up by a small but growing publisher, Mirror World Publishing. I’m meeting with a cover artist today after work. Very exciting!

      How’s the new novel coming?

  8. My novel is chugging along. I’m editing it. I thought I was finished, but realized there’s more work to do on voice and emotion.

  9. Let me know if you need a beta reader!

  10. Look forward to your blog entries from you and Zoey! 🙂

  11. Hi Shelley! I host a writing tips website that frequently features guest posts. I’m interested in guest posting your post about why blogging is so important for writers. Could you drop me a line?
